the ability to change an invoice number on a posted invoice

I’d like the ability to change the invoice number after it has been posted, specifically under the "Modify Invoices" section. For a few of the companies I enter invoices for, we use the rental agreement invoice as a reference. Sometimes, if you're not paying close attention and forget to update the invoice number, you have to void the entire invoice and re-enter it from scratch. Being able to simply correct the invoice number would save a lot of time and effort.
